Tax return filing deadline approaching fast!

The deadline for submitting the 2020-21 tax return to HMRC online is 31 January 2022, and any tax due should also be paid by that date. The tax will be any balance due for the 2020-21 tax year after taking into account payments already made in January and July 2021, and a first payment on account for the 2021-22 tax year. There are penalties for late filing and interest charged on late payment.

Don’t forget that COVID support payments (including local authority grants, self-employed income support scheme payments etc) needs to be reported on the return as well.

If you have yet to supply your tax return information to us, we urge you to do so as soon as possible, so that you can be made aware of your tax liabilities before the deadline. In some circumstances, you might actually find you have overpaid tax, and this can be repaid to you!
