Navigating the tax code can be a real challenge, not to mention the difficulty people face when dealing with HMRC when trying to recovery what’s rightfully theirs!

Because of this, many hard working people are missing out on over £1000 each year, but we are here to change that!

1. Complete the tax rebate eligibility checker form. Your responses will then be checked by an accountant for a second review.

2. Collate the required documents and upload them into your secure portal. You will receive an email with list of documents required. The list may include: previous self-assessment tax returns, P60s, bank statements.

3. Our accountants will review the information sent over and request any more information that may be necessary to support the claim.

4. We will prepare all of the relevant forms that need to be sent to HMRC, before sending you a calculation of the amount of taxes that will likely be recovered.

5. The claim will be processed via HMRC and payment can be expected to be made into your bank account within a couple of weeks!

Once the payment of your tax refund has been processed by HMRC, you will usually receive a new tax code, meaning you will not be required to complete a claim again for the following years.
For higher value claims, you will also be required to complete a self-assessment each year, which can also be completed by My Tax Helper.

Yes, we are chartered accountants. In addition to providing PAYE tax rebate services, we also offer self-assessment services, tax advice, limited company accounts, corporation tax returns, bookkeeping, payroll and many other financial services such as mortgage, brokerage and pensions!

You can get tax relief on a variety of expenses, such as:

1. Travel expenses: This can include the cost of travel to and from temporary workplaces, including train, bus, or taxi fares, and the cost of hiring a car for work-related purposes.

2. Accommodation expenses: If you have to stay away from home to work, you can claim tax relief on the cost of your accommodation, such as hotel or rental costs.

3. Meals and subsistence: You can claim tax relief on the cost of meals and subsistence while working away from your regular workplace, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

4. Tools and equipment: If you need to purchase tools or equipment to do your job, you can claim tax relief on the cost of these items.

5. Professional fees and subscriptions: You can claim tax relief on professional fees and subscriptions, such as membership fees for professional bodies or trade unions, that are necessary for your work.

Each PAYE tax refund claim can vary significantly  based on a number of factors such as income, employment benefits, job expenses incurred, tax code errors and much more. Claims on the lower end typically receive £1,000 – £2,000, with larger claims exceeding £10,000!

If your circumstances have changed and you are no longer classed as a temporary workplace employee, you must inform HMRC of this change so that your tax code can be updated. My Tax Helper will be happy to help you with this if need be.
If you move to a new company, but are still classed as a temporary workplace employee, then you will be able to continue operating under the same tax code as before.

You may not be entitled to a refund at the moment but that does not mean you will not be in the future. If your circumstance change, call us on 0208 064 0295 or email us at info@mytaxhelper.co.uk for us to review your claim.
